Texas teens buy coat and food for homeless man

Texas teens buy coat and food for homeless man

by Kay Kim, editor in chief

Three Texas teens gifted a homeless man late Christmas gifts.

Ryan Cook, 19, wrote on his Facebook, “… He [the homeless] said this is almost like Christmas because I didn’t get anything for Christmas this year.”

When Ryan Cook, Joshua Mechell, and Alberto Montiel spotted a homeless man crying at a Corpus Christi Chick-fil-A, they were determined to gather money to provide the man with a Chick-fil-A gift card.

They also bought the man winter necessities at a local Dick’s Sporting Goods. The goods included a coat, a beanie, three shirts, and a first-aid kit. Dick’s also donated $20 and some of its display items.

Cook posted the video of their donations on Facebook, hoping to inspire people to be “selfless and do good for others”.

A student in the school expressed how he would show kindness when he comes across a homeless.

“It depends how much money I have on me, but if I have ten dollars, I would maybe get him [homeless] something from a fast food place. But if I was older, I would get him clothes,” seventh grade student Julien Parasso said.
